The Conquest of Mecca

10,000 Strong, Zero Revenge

Surah 110:1-3Surah 48:27

TL;DR

Eight years after being driven out, Prophet returns with 10,000 soldiers. No major battle. Enters humbly. Forgives everyone who fought against him. 'Go, you are free.' Sets the tone for the entire Islamic empire.

The Return

Eight years ago, the Prophet fled Mecca. Now he's back with 10,000 Muslims. The city that expelled him, that tortured his followers, that tried to kill him -- it's about to fall.

And it falls in like... an hour. No major battle. No siege. The Quraysh realize they can't win and just surrender.

But here's the insane part -- the Prophet doesn't do what any normal military leader would do. He doesn't sack the city. Doesn't execute former enemies. Doesn't let his soldiers loot.

Instead (48:27), the Quran says: 'Allah has certainly fulfilled the vision for His Messenger in truth.' The vision? Entering the sacred sanctuary in peace.

And (110:1-3) is short but captures EVERYTHING: 'When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest, and you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes, then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.'

Notice what that says? When victory comes, don't go crazy -- praise Allah and ask for forgiveness. That's the vibe.

The Forgiveness

The Prophet gathers the Quraysh leaders. These are people who:

-- Killed his companions -- Tortured Muslims -- Mocked him for years -- Tried to assassinate him

And he says something that shocks everyone: 'Go. You are free.'

No execution. No punishment. No vengeance. "Tadhhabu antum tahalroun" -- Go, you are free ones.

Only like 6 people got executed (hadith context, not Quran), and only because they were serial killers or traitors during the conquest itself. Everyone else? Freed.

So think about what this does -- the Quraysh realize they're not getting destroyed. They start converting. Whole families flip. The conquest becomes a conversion event, not a blood event.

Even Hind (a woman who chewed the liver of the Prophet's uncle Hamza) comes forward, and he forgives her too. Lowkey that's the most gangster forgiveness ever.

The Model for Empire

This moment -- forgiving the people who fought you hardest -- sets the template for how the Islamic empire operates. It says: we're not here to destroy. We're here to lead. Join us and you're family. Refuse and you're still free.

That's why Islam spread so fast. It wasn't just military conquest. It was cultural and religious conquest through CLEMENCY.

And the Prophet walks into the Kaaba (the holiest site, which Quraysh had filled with 360 idols) and he doesn't celebrate. He goes inside, sees all those idols, and just destroys them. No fanfare. Just removes the barriers between people and Allah.

The whole vibe is: we won, but this isn't about us. It's about Islam. It's about worship. So act like it.

That's leadership, bro. Not revenge. Just reset.

Key Takeaway

The greatest victory isn't when you destroy your enemies -- it's when you forgive them and they join you. The Prophet conquered Mecca not with swords but with mercy. That's why his followers changed the world. Never forget that, fr fr.
